Other Causes of Mesothelioma

Have you ever had mesothelioma cancer? Or do you know someone who has mesothelioma cancer or asbestos lung disease? If yes, are you or are they aware of the substances that may have caused it? This article shows various elements that people are usually exposed of and therefore causes mesothelioma cancer in their bodies. Asbestos and mesothelioma are very closely related and most victims are open to mesothelioma asbestos exposure. The below are some of the causes of mesothelioma.

One known substance is called Zeolites. Zeolites are silicate minerals which can be related chemically to asbestos or mesothelioma. A common example of Zeolites is erionite, which can be found in the soil in most areas and places in Turkey. Due to high exposure to mineral, the exposure of mesothelioma in these places has also been high.

According to some published reports, high amounts of radiation in the chest or abdomen and injection of thorium dioxide or Thorotrast causes mesothelioma.  Until the 1950s, this substance was still being used by physicians in X-ray examinations. Because the substance has been found out to cause mesothelioma cancer, the use of it was prohibited for several years.

SV40 virus

As stated by a few studies, people who have been infected by the simian virus 40 or SV40 have been considered as a risk of acquiring mesothelioma. Vaccines for polio that have been injected between the years 1955 and 1963 were said to be infected by the simian virus. Around thirty million people in the United States of America have been contaminated by the simian virus by now.

According to a few laboratory studies, the simian virus can trigger mesothelioma cancer. This may be illustrated by this example: an intended infection with simian virus of laboratory animals like hamsters. Laboratory animals like these can cause mesothelioma to grow. Examiners also have pointed out that the simian virus can influence the mouse cells to grow in dishes which can be extremely cancerous. Because this is caused by the substance asbestos, it only adds to the cancer-causing effect of the simian virus on these mouse cells. The simian virus DNA has also been found by some examiners in human mesotheliomas. But only fragments of these DNA can be located in a number of human tissues which are non-cancerous.

Still, the biggest researches and studies regarding human mesothelioma have not discovered the risk for mesothelioma or other kinds of cancers among individuals who have acquired the infected vaccines as children. The peak range for diagnosing this kind of condition is between fifty to seventy years. According to a number of researchers, this problem may stay unsettled until most of the people who have been exposed to the simian virus between the years 1955 and 1963 arrive to the age range.

However, there is no assurance that mesothelioma have really been caused by the simian virus though experts have claimed it must be so. Researchers still have no valid evidence that the simian virus is responsible for some types of mesotheliomas. Researches have still been ongoing in this vital issue. Researchers are still currently examining other possible causes of this condition and ways on how to solve these issues.
